Dean of Engineering Mun Y. Choi has been appointed to serve on the Renewable Energy Investment Board, better known as the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF). The appointment, which commences immediately, was announced by Denise Merrill, Majority Leader of the Connecticut House of Representatives.

In accepting the appointment, Dr. Choi said, “I am very honored and excited to be a part of the CCEF Board. The CCEF has been an important catalyst for fostering clean energy research, development and outreach. Through CCEF and its partners around the state of Connecticut, we have an opportunity to transform energy technologies to conserve our resources and to steward the environment.”

The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund promotes, develops, and invests in clean energy sources for the benefit of Connecticut ratepayers. The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, administered by Connecticut Innovations, is funded by a surcharge on residential and commercial electric bills. The fund has supported more than $100 million in projects, commitments and program allocations statewide since its creation in 2000.

The CCEF Board comprises 15 members with wide-ranging experience in renewable energy, business and commercial investments, organized labor, environmental issues, business and low-income communities. As a member of the Board, Dr. Choi will share responsibility for developing the overall comprehensive plan and approving policies, programs and funding for CCEF.

CCEF provides funding to individual households — such as rebates for installation of solar panels or thermal systems, towns and communities, and businesses.
