ECE Welcomes Dr. Peng Zhang

The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department introduces Dr. Peng Zhang, an assistant professor with a focus on 21st century power systems. He comes to the department as an international scholar armed with two doctoral degrees, a Ph.D. in power systems reliability from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and another in power systems simulation analysis from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department introduces Dr. Peng Zhang, an assistant professor with a focus on 21st century power systems. He comes to the department as an international scholar armed with two doctoral degrees, a Ph.D. in power systems reliability from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and another in power systems simulation analysis from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Supported by several academic achievement scholarships during his lengthy tenure as a student, Dr. Zhang authored 16 published journal articles, six conference papers, and chapters in three textbooks. Additionally, he has completed seven major wind energy projects, including British Columbia’s novel “Bear Mountain Wind Farm,” boasting 34 turbines with a capacity of 102 megawatts, enough to power 29,000 homes. Most recently, Dr. Zhang has been researching grid integration of renewable energy resources as a Systems Planning Engineer for BC Transmission Corporation in Vancouver.
