The School of Engineering will hold commencement ceremonies for graduating undergraduates on Sunday, May 8 in the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts. Graduate students will celebrate commencement on Saturday, May 8.

The School of Engineering will hold commencement ceremonies for graduating undergraduates on Sunday, May 8 in the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.  Graduate students will celebrate commencement on Saturday, May 7 in Gampel Pavilion (see details here and below).

For complete information regarding the undergraduate commencement 2011 events, please click here. Following are a few highlights regarding the undergraduate commencement ceremonies.

Seating will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the event will formally commence in the Jorgensen Center at 12:30 p.m.

From 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., graduating students and their families are invited to an informal engineering reception (RSVP required) to be held in the Northwest Dining Hall.

This year’s commencement speaker will be Dr. Charles M. Vest, President of the prestigious National Academy of Engineering and President Emeritus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who will also receive an Honorary Doctoral degree from UConn.

Students are limited to five tickets, which must be obtained in advance at the UConn Co-op after seniors purchase their caps and gowns.

Graduate Student Commencement

The School of Engineering will hold a reception prior to the Saturday, May 7 graduate student commencement ceremonies.  Please join us in the Information Technologies Engineering Building (ITEB) foyer from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. All master’s and doctoral degree recipients and candidates and their guests are invited to this event. A buffet brunch will be available. Note: Individuals who completed or plan to complete graduate degree requirements during the Spring 2011 degree conferral period must apply for their degrees on-line no later than April 1st using the PeopleSoft student administration system.
