Susan Herbst will be formally installed as the 15th president of the University of Connecticut at a ceremony this Friday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. in the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.
All students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend.
Speakers will include Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, former U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd, and Samuel Tracy, president of the Undergraduate Student Government. William Hitchcock, a professor of history at the University of Virginia, will give the keynote address, and President Herbst will give her inaugural address.
Herbst was appointed to the position in December 2010 and officially began her duties this past June.
A number of visiting delegates from universities around the nation will be on hand for the occasion, including Herbst’s brother, Jeffrey, who is the president of Colgate University in New York state.
