During Black History Month, the UConn Health Center honors all of the African American leaders on the faculty and staff whose passion and creativity contribute mightily to the educational, research and clinical successes of our academic medical center.
“Indeed, an integral part of the Health Center’s mission, dating back to its founding, is to open the doors of academic and professional opportunities to people of all racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds,” said Philip Austin, Interim Vice President for Health Affairs. “One of our greatest success stories is the Health Careers Opportunity Program which has reached out to students in the greater Hartford area for more than 25 years through a series of innovative educational and mentoring programs. This program has changed the lives of thousands of students in the region,” he noted.
In honor of Black History Month, the career of Dr. Cato T.
