Waltham, Massachusetts, December 14, 2015.  The Boston Area Chapter of ISPE is proud to award $13K in scholarships to the winners of the November round of the Chapter’s Joel Goldenberg Memorial Scholarship Program, bringing the total awarded by the Chapter in 2015 to $25K. ISPE is a non-profit, professional society serving the life sciences industry, including college and university students preparing to enter related fields. The scholarship program was established to honor the memory of Boston Area Chapter Past President Joel Goldenberg.

The Chapter accepts scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students, and professionals currently working in the industry pursuing career advancement through continuing education.  Applicants are eligible to receive up to $8,000 in scholarship monies throughout their lifetime. They must be members of the Boston Area Chapter of ISPE and provide information about their academic, extra-curricular and community service accomplishments as well as their involvement with ISPE and the life sciences industry.

The scholarship program has application periods ending November 1st and June 1st. Winners from the November 2015 application period are:

The Joel Goldenberg Memorial Scholarship Program is one of several programs the Boston Area Chapter has designed to help local students prepare for careers in the life sciences industry. These include the Annual Student Career Forum where industry professionals provide guidance to students seeking internships and jobs in the life sciences industry; the Annual Poster Competition where local undergraduate and graduate students compete for $500 awards and the opportunity to compete at the international level at the ISPE Annual Meeting; and an array of activities at the 13 Student Chapters supported by the Boston Area Chapter. (As an added bonus, this year’s ISPE International Poster Competition graduate winner was Boston Area Chapter Student Member and local Poster Competition winner Sydney Shaw of Northeastern University.)
