James Chen (Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, ’96) was appointed chief financial officer at Aoxing Pharmaceutical Company. Before joining Aoxing Parma, Chen was CFO at Origin Agritech where he successfully managed both operational and finance functions. A Chartered Financial Analyst, he is currently a Director and the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of China Finance Online and the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Linjiang Chemicals.

 

Adina C. Cherry (M.S. Biomedical Engineering, ’95) was appointed vice president, Business Development, Airborne Systems at Denmark-based Defense and Security Group Terma A/S.  Cherry joins Terma with more than 20 years of experience in international business development and program management, ten of those with Northrop Grumman.  She is a PMI Certified Program Management Professional.

 

 

Alan C. Folmsbee (B.S., M.S. Electrical Engineering, ’79, ’89) has written the first book in his physics trilogy, “The Strength of Gravity vs. Charge” – an exploration of Continuum Science, a new branch of physics.  Volumes two and three, “Graviticspansion and Momentricity” and “Fusion Electrical Generators,” are due in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

 

Christopher Granatini, P.E. (B.S. Civil Engineering, ’96), a project manager at Tighe & Bond Middletown, CT office, was promoted to Associate within the firm’s Stock Ownership Program.  With 19 years of experience serving state, local and private clients, last year Granatini assumed an expanded role as traffic and transportation services lead in Connecticut.  He is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers and Urban Land Institute.

 

 

 

Sandra J. Jannetty, P.E. (B.S. Electrical Engineering, ‘88) was appointed a senior vice president at Sargent & Lundy LLC.  She is a project director in firm’s Nuclear Power group regional engineering office in Wilmington, DE.  A licensed Professional Engineer, Jannetty is a member of IEEE Subcommittee 6 and ISA.  She earned an Executive MBA from the University of Delaware.

 

 

 

Zbigniew Prusak (Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering, ’98) was honored for his educational and community achievements at the 44 Club annual dinner in January.  The 44 Club was established by New Britain, CT-area Polish leaders to foster social, professional, intellectual and cultural advancement of the Polish-American community.  Prusak is a professor of engineering at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) and noted authority in precision manufacturing, metrology, and inventive design, among other specializations.  In 2005, he won the prestigious CCSU Excellence in Teaching Award.

Mark Turano (B.S. Chemical Engineering & Materials Engineering, ’84) has been appointed National Sales Manager, Lumirror® Polyester Film Division at Toray. Turano joins Toray from Danafilms Corporation where he held the position of Sales Manager.  Prior to his tenure at Danafilms, he was employed by Consolidated Container Company, Polycel de Mexico, and Printpack in sales management roles.  Turano earned an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

 

Robert H. Wittstein (B.S. Mechanical Engineering, ’82) has been named chief information officer for Bentley University.  He joined Bentley from Harvard University, where he served as managing director of Administrative Technology Services and IT oversight for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, setting strategy and leading initiatives for IT across Harvard.  He holds an MBA from the University of New Haven.
