Former state Sen. Eric D. Coleman and business executives Cheryl A. Chase and Steven M. Greenspan will be honored next month with awards from The University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association.

Cheryl A. ChaseMs. Chase, co-president and general counsel of Chase Enterprises, a real estate development and management company, will receive the 2017 Distinguished Graduate Award. She is active in a host of social and civic causes, serving as a trustee of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and the Connecticut Science Center. Ms. Chase also serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Connecticut Health Center. She has also been a trustee of the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation. She is a 1978 graduate of the UConn School of Law and lives in West Hartford.

Eric D. ColemanSenator Coleman, who retired in January after serving 22 years in the state Senate, will receive the 2017 Public Service Award. The first African American chair of the legislature’s Judiciary Committee, Senator Coleman represented the 2nd District, comprising parts of Bloomfield, Windsor and Hartford. He also served as a deputy president pro tempore of the Senate. He previously served 11 years in the Connecticut House of Representatives, where he held a variety of leadership positions, including deputy speaker. He is a 1977 graduate of the UConn School of Law and lives in Bloomfield.

Steven M. GreenspanMr. Greenspan, vice president and chief litigation counsel for the United Technologies Corporation, will receive the 2017 Distinguished Service Award. He is a trustee of The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. He previously served as a member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s House of Delegates. He has also been member of the Hartford County Bar Association’s Board of Directors and its president in 2004. Mr. Greenspan was also a trustee of the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation and its president from 2014 to 2017. He is a 1985 graduate of the UConn School of Law and lives in West Hartford.

The awards will be presented Oct. 17, 2017, at The University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner. It will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at The Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry St., Plantsville, Connecticut. More information and a registration link are available at law.uconn.edu/AlumniAwards17.
