On December 12, 2019, students from four UConn campuses – Avery Point, Waterbury, Stamford, and Storrs – gathered with their friends, family, and faculty at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate the newest graduates from the School of Nursing’s CEIN/BS program. In total, 142 graduates earned their pins and certificates and embarked on the next steps in their nursing careers.

CEIN/BS is an accelerated, one-year, post-baccalaureate program designed to prepare students to enter the field of nursing. It is provides an efficient and focused opportunity for students to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and to ease the nursing shortage in Connecticut and around the country. The full-time program features problem-based teaching and learning and includes components of history, culture, setting data, clinical science, nursing science, independent-dependent-interdependent nursing actions, disease science, healthcare, finance and ethics.

“After one year, our CEIN/BS graduates leave our accelerated program with the skills necessary to enter the healthcare workforce,” said School of Nursing Dean Deborah Chyun. “Success in this program requires a great degree of dedication on the part of the students – a focus that I know our newest graduates will bring to their future patients and practices.”
