Zebrafish have a similar genetic structure to humans which makes them ideal organisms to study. The UConn Health lab of Jean-Denis Beaudoin, associate professor of genetics and genome sciences, includes a fish facility that is home to approximately 20 thousand zebrafish. Beaudoin is studying the earliest stages of zebrafish development to better understand how defects and diseases develop in humans which could lead to future treatments. (Video by UConn Health)
