Food is much more than just something we eat. It can connect us with our heritage, it can be our livelihood, and a way to connect with others in our community. Yet, all too often we take food – and community — for granted. UConn researchers are studying these connections, the importance of food, and how to build more just, equitable, and sustainable communities by focusing on a unique facility called the Commercially Licensed Co-operative Kitchen or CLiCK.

CLiCK is a place where anyone from the community can learn vital skills, from growing food to working in the food industry, and where incubating businesses can use the facilities to get their businesses off the ground with fewer start-up funds.

More than just caloric nourishment, food is justice, it is a reflection of our society, it is a connection. Facilities like CLiCK help assemble the ingredients to nurture a community and empower the people within it
