If you, or your family, are in need of health care coverage, UConn Health wants to let you know that you may be eligible for a new State of Connecticut created health program called The Covered Connecticut Program, at no cost to you.

The Covered CT Program, administered by the Department of Social Services, provides free health care coverage including dental care and non-emergency medical transportation benefits, to eligible adults and families within a specific income range.

If you qualify to pay $0 for your health insurance plan, the State of Connecticut will pay your monthly payments (premium) directly to your insurance company (either via Anthem, ConnectiCare Benefits, Inc., or ConnectiCare Insurance Company Inc., Silver-level plans) and all your cost-sharing amounts that you would typically have to pay with a health insurance plan (deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and maximum out-of-pocket costs).

To be eligible, your yearly household income must fall within a certain range of the federal poverty level, based on the number of persons in your household.

Qualifying Connecticut residents must:

  • Have a household income up to and including 175% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and not qualify for HUSKY Health/Medicaid because of income.
  • Be eligible for financial help including Advance Premium Tax Credits (APTCs) and Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSRs).
  • Use 100% of the financial help available to you.
  • Be enrolled in a Silver-level health insurance plan (either Anthem, ConnectiCare Benefits, Inc., or ConnectiCare Insurance Company Inc.)
