The College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR) recently held an inaugural event recognizing grant success in 2021 and 2022.

In fiscal year 2022, CAHNR faculty received the most research funding in the College’s history with a total of $40 million in new awards. This builds on five years of growth, during which period both extramural funding and research expenditures increased by more than 50%. CAHNR expenditures were also the highest in the last five years, totaling almost $29 million.

“In every CAHNR department, discipline, and area of study, faculty are pushing the boundaries of what is possible,” says Indrajeet Chaubey, dean and director of CAHNR.  “Thanks to their hard work, our College continues to exceed expectations related to new awards, as well as driving innovation for residents of our state and beyond.”

Interim Vice President for Research, Entrepreneurship and Innovation S. Pamir Alpay and  Interim Vice Provost for Health Sciences Amy Gorin joined the event to celebrate CAHNR faculty success. The event recognized all  grant awardees during the fiscal years 2021 and 2022. Combining these two years, the College received approximately $75 million dollars in research funding.

“None of this would be possible without the ingenuity of our faculty and the dedicated staff who support our research enterprise,” says Kumar Venkitanarayanan. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to thank them for their hard work and support their high quality proposals going forward.”
