Tremors are a good reason to see your doctor. They’re often a sign of a a movement disorder.

Parkinson’s disease is one of the most debilitating movement disorders, and the earlier that can be diagnosed or ruled out, the better. If it is Parkinson’s, timely intervention can make a significant difference in trajectory of quality of life by delaying the onset of disability or loss of function. That includes not only medication, physical therapy, and in some cases surgical intervention, but also supportive care and planning, says Dr. Bernardo Rodrigues, director of UConn Health’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center.

If you’re prepared for the challenges ahead of you, you will have a much better time dealing with them. You’re going to have better quality of life, you’re going to have a better response system, better safety systems. — Dr. Bernardo Rodrigues
