UConn John Dempsey Hospital is the only Connecticut hospital to be most likely recommended by patients.
UConn’s teaching hospital received the top highest five stars in Connecticut patient recommendations in the latest data of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The data released July 31, 2024 is based on survey data collected from hospital patients between October 2022 and September 2023.
The recommended hospital star rating is based on patient survey responses to questions like, “Would you recommend this hospital to your friends and family?”
Also, recently Becker’s Hospital Review compiled and showcased the list of the hospitals patients are most likely to recommend in every state, and UConn John Dempsey Hospital was the only one in Connecticut listed among 464 hospitals nationally that patients would highly recommend.
Becker’s complied data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) from CMS.
CMS shares 10 HCAHPS star ratings based on publicly reported HCAHPS measures. Hospitals must have at least 100 completed HCAHPS surveys in a fourth-quarter period to be eligible for a star rating.
“We are so proud to be the only hospital in Connecticut to receive a 5-star rating for this reporting period. Nothing compares to the patient experience at UConn Health,” applauds Tamara Cardoso of UConn Health’s Office of Patient Experience where she serves as Patient Experience Performance Improvement Specialist.
