Achievement

Bodhisattwa Chaudhuri, a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Institute of Materials Science has been named a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. This recognition is the organization’s highest membership grade and is reserved for professionals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of chemical engineering in the United States and overseas.

Guillermo Risatti, associate professor in the department of pathobiology and veterinary science in the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, has been elected to the National Academy of Inventors 2024 Class of Fellows. He joins 170 inventors nationwide to receive this honor and becomes the twelfth UConn inventor to join this selective organization. Risatti also directs the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (CVMDL), one of the most active service centers at UConn Storrs. The CVMDL helps support human and animal health throughout New England by testing for veterinary diseases like Lyme, rabies, and avian influenza.

Joanne Coghill, 84, of Windsor, Conn., a biological researcher at both UConn and UConn Health, on Jan. 3.

David Durfee, 86 of Vernon, Conn., the retired director of student laboratories at UConn Health, on Nov. 24.

Robert Geoghegan, 89, a former ROTC instructor, on Dec. 14.

Raymond Guetner, 92, a former teacher at UConn Law, on Dec. 8.

Dr. Achilles Pappano, 84, of Simsbury, Conn., an original faculty member at UConn Health who taught there for 44 years, on Dec. 31.

Margaret Sekellick, 81, a retired professor and research scientist in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, on Dec. 4.

Helen Scott, 90, a retired assistant professor in nursing, on Dec. 16

Suleiman Zalatimo, 94, of Storrs, Conn., a retired education professor of 24 years, on Dec. 15.
