Interim Provost John A. Elliott has become the Chair of AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business–considered the ‘gold’ standard accrediting body for business schools. His appointment became official July 1.
“AACSB-accredited programs are committed to continuous improvement,” Elliott said. “We share ‘best practices’ and are determined to advance business education, whether in accounting, finance, innovation and entrepreneurship, data analytics or tomorrow’s emerging specialties.”
“It is an honor for UConn to be recognized as a leader in the field of business education and a champion for high standards in education, not only among our peers across the nation but around the world,” he said.
Elliott, who has served as the Dean of the School of Business and the Auran J. Fox Chair at UConn since 2012, will carry out his new duties in addition to his UConn responsibilities.
AACSB provides quality assurance, business education intelligence and professional development services to more than 840 accredited business schools worldwide and advocates for collaboration between academe and industry.
“The committed volunteers of the AACSB Board of Directors are a strong and guiding force for business schools as they prepare the leaders and innovators of tomorrow,” said Thomas R. Robinson, president and CEO of AACSB.
