On January 31, Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, UConn President Susan Herbst, and other officials unveiled plan to invest $1.5 billion in UConn’s science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) educational programs over a decade. Dubbed Next Generation Connecticut, the plan will greatly expand educational opportunities, research, and innovation in the STEM disciplines through growth in student enrollment, faculty and facilities.
In addition to the Storrs campus, the bold plan – to be funded almost entirely through bond issues – will also focus on supporting the academic missions of the Greater Hartford and Stamford campuses.
