The UConn School of Engineering is pleased to announce the inception of the Engineering Alumni Legacy Society. Legacy may be defined as something handed down from an ancestor or predecessor; from the past. With more than 17,000 graduates since the School of Engineering was established in 1940, generations of families have passed on a special academic tradition – we want to celebrate this distinctive relationship.
The Engineering Alumni Legacy Society recognizes families making UConn engineering pedagogy part of their family tradition. Membership in the society is automatic and offered to encourage Husky spirit in School of Engineering students and alumni who are directly related to School of Engineering graduates. It helps members stay in touch with the school and fellow legacies through special events and networking opportunities. It rewards families for their continued generational support. This is just one other way that we’re strengthening the bond between our school, our alumni and our students.
The Inaugural School of Engineering Alumni Legacy Society Celebration and Pinning Ceremony is planned for Saturday, Sept. 21, during UConn Family Weekend. School of Engineering alumni and students who are the children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents and/or siblings of School of Engineering graduate(s) are legacies. We ask that you please email Heidi Douglas, Director of Engineering Alumni Relations, at hdouglas@engineer.uconn.edu to confirm your legacy status, including the name(s) and relationship(s) of legacy students and alumni. Wherever possible, please include maiden name(s), graduation year(s) and engineering major(s).
Verified legacies will receive invitations to the inaugural event mid-August.
