Mustain Chosen for Fulbright

Dr. William Mustain, Associate Professor & Associate Department Head in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has been selected for a 2015-16 Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant. With the grant, he will study at the University of Surrey in England, where he will collaborate with John Varcoe, a professor of materials chemistry, and Varcoe’s students on a project designed to better use CO2 emissions from fossil fuel power plants. Dr. Mustain will be there from April until August.

 

 

Study Wins Young Researcher Paper Award

UConn researchers have been awarded the TRB Committee ANB20 (Safety Data Analysis and Evaluation) 2015 Young Researcher Paper Award. Assistant Professor Karthik C. Konduri, Professor John Ivan and UConn graduate assistant Kai Wang are part of a team that authored the paper, “A Copula Based Joint Model of Injury Severity and Vehicle Damage in Two-Vehicle Crashes.” The award will be presented at the ANB20 Committee Meeting during the TRB Annual Meeting in January 2016 in Washington DC.

Hebert Selected For Army Research Laboratory Review Panel

Dr. Rainer Hebert, Director of the Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center, has been selected by the National Academies to serve a two-year term on the review panel for mechanical science and engineering at the Army Research Laboratory. The panel will meet July 8-10 at the Adelphi Army facility in Maryland.
