Engineering Centennial Lecture Series- Dipayan Ghosh
On April 11, from 9 to 10 to a.m., UConn Alum Dipayan Ghosh will give a lecture in Laurel Hall, room 101. A 2016 Forbes 30 Under 30 award recipient, Ghosh recently moved to Facebook, where he works in privacy and public policy. Before joining Facebook, he was a technology and economic policy advisor at the White House, advising on issues including spectrum innovation, Internet and cyber policy, consumer privacy and protection, and educational technology. He is a postdoctoral scholar at Berkeley’s School of Information, and fellow at the Center for Information Technology Policy at Princeton University. At UConn, Dipayan was an Honors Program student and minored in math, economics, and nanotechnology as a University Scholar. He received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science at Cornell University.

Engineering Centennial Lecture Series – Dr. Kartik Chandran

UConn Alum Kartik Chandran will give a lecture on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 11:15 a.m. to noon in the Castleman Building, Room 212. Chandran is professor of earth and environmental engineering at Columbia University, where he leads the Columbia University biomolecular environmental science program and the wastewater treatment and climate change program. Under his stewardship, the research directions of biological wastewater treatment and biological nitrogen removal were established for the first time ever in the history of Columbia University. Chandran is keenly interested in developing novel models for sustainable sanitation and wastewater treatment, with a specific focus on managing the global nitrogen cycle and linking it to the carbon cycle, the food cycle, the water cycle and the energy cycle. Chandran has a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from UConn, as well as a B.S. in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. He received a 2015 MacArthur Fellowship for his work “integrating microbial ecology, molecular biology, and engineering to transform wastewater from a troublesome pollutant to a valuable resource.”

Senior Design Day  & All Alumni Reunion and Reception:
One of the highlights of our Centennial Celebration is the combination of Senior Design Day and our All Alumni Reunion and Reception on Friday, April 29.
Senior Design Day runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion. Come see what our seniors have been working on all year, solving problems brought to them by our industry partners and gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment.

The All Alumni Reunion and Reception starts at 4:30 p.m at Rome Ballroom. UConn Engineering will celebrate and reflect on the school’s one hundred year journey while discussing our bright future. Alums, current and emeriti faculty, senior students, and friends of the school are all welcome to attend- come mingle while enjoying complimentary food and cocktails. Tell your friends about the day and join us on April 29! Click here to RSVP for the Reception!
