Honors

Two assistant professors in the Neag School of Education’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction have been named recipients of Early Career Awards by the American Educational Research Association. Danielle Filipiak will receive the award from Division K, which is dedicated to teaching and teacher education, while Grace D. Player will be recognized by Division G, which focuses on the social context of education.

Bryan Locke, 75, of Waterford, Conn., a former employee, on March 31.

Shirley Love, 96, of Niantic, Conn., a former employee at UConn Avery Point, on April 2.

Ruth Martin, 93, of Hartford, Conn., a professor emerita in the School of Social Work, on March 24.

Paul Nutthall, 94, an associate professor in the Cooperative Extension Service for 29 years, on April 3.

Margaret Paulson, 80, a Greenfield, Mass., a former employee, on March 31.

Michael Simon, 87, of New Suffolk, N.Y., a former faculty member on April 1.

Thomas Wilsted, 80, of Green Valley,  Ariz., a retired employee of the The Dodd Center for Human Rights, on April 6.
