Achievement

Dr. Rebecca Andrews is among this year’s recipients of the American Medical Women’s Association’s INSPIRE Award, which recognizes women physicians who have a positive impact on their peers. Andrews is a professor of medicine in the UConn School of Medicine and serves as the UConn Internal Medicine Residency Program’s associate program director as well as its director of ambulatory education. The annual award recognizes women physicians who inspire others because of their dedication to health care, compassion for patients, leadership, advocacy, or community service.

Dr. Andrew Arnold, a professor in medicine and genetics and genome sciences in the School of Medicine, is the recipient of the The American Society for Bone and Mineral Research’s 2024 William F. Neuman Award. The award is the oldest and most prestigious honor conferred by the organization. It recognizes Arnold for his outstanding and major scientific contributions in the area of bone and mineral research and for contributions to associates and trainees in teaching, research, and administration.

Rebecca Thomas, a professor in the School of Social Work and director for the Center for International Social Work Studies, was named a 2024 PIE Award winner from the Council on Social Work Education. The honor is given annually to a trio of winners – individual, organization, and student – for their innovative work and dedication to international social work. The Partners in International Education awards precede the Hokenstad International Lecture at the 2024 CSWE Annual Program Meeting in October.
