Krista Iliano was just 26 when she found a lump in her breast and was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. After surgery, her cancer later returned and spread to her lungs. Through the challenges of metastatic breast cancer, she held on to her dream of becoming a mother, eventually welcoming her son, Hudson, through IVF.
Now in her early 40s and training for the Chicago Marathon, Iliano shares her story alongside her UConn Health oncologist, Dr. Daniel Morganstern, in an interview with NBC CT. Together, they discuss breast cancer in younger women and the importance of shared decision-making giving patients the information and support they need to make informed choices about their care and their future.
