The University has renewed its institutional membership at the Wadsworth Atheneum, offering members of the UConn community special access to one of Connecticut’s major cultural resources.
The Atheneum is America’s oldest public art museum. Located at 600 Main Street in Hartford, the museum holds a collection of more than 45,000 works covering 5,000 years and including American and European paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts.
UConn’s institutional membership entitles students, faculty, and staff to free admission to the museum with a UConn ID (admission does not extend to guests of students, faculty, or staff, however). Also available is a 10 percent discount off individual and household memberships that provide discounted or free admission to lectures, programs, and events, as well as a 10 percent discount in the Museum Shop and Cafe. To take advantage of this benefit, present a UConn ID at the Atheneum admissions desk or contact the Membership Department at 860-838-4171.
The museum is open Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Additionally, as part of the Phoenix Art After Hours series, the museum remains open until 8 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.
