September Engineering Career Fair a Success
On Tuesday, September 25, UConn Engineering hosted the first of two autumn 2012 all-school career fairs. The event brought 60 prospective employers and professional program exhibitors - from small and large manufacturing businesses, biotech companies and construction firms to software companies and universities - to campus to recruit UConn engineering students for a variety of opportunities, from internships and co-ops to full-time employment.

FeelGood: Helping to End Hunger
FeelGood is a creative, student-led movement that raises money and awareness for the end of global hunger by running non-profit, on-campus grilled cheese delis, and there's a UConn chapter now! Their motto: Hunger can be and must be ended in our lifetime.

New GAANNs in Engineering
The US Dept. of Education has funded three new 2012 Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need sites within the School of Engineering. These programs will provide $1.2 million for graduate student support in the areas of sustainable energy technologies, nano-scale materials and device behavior for energy generation and storage, and computer systems security.

UConn Emeritus Professor Charles H. Knapp grew up in Coventry, Conn., attended a one-room schoolhouse as a child, and, later in life, before he owned his own car, would hitchhike his way to Storrs for classes.
