An article by speech pathologist Starr Cookman is featured in Teaching Music, a publication from the National Association for Music Education. The article, “Voice Savers for Music Teachers,” appeared in the January  2012 issue and offered 10 tips on how to prevent hoarseness, throat pain, and vocal fatigue.

Dr. Mary P. Guerrera, professor of Family Medicine and director of Integrative Medicine, has been elected to serve a second term on the Executive Committee of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine (www.imconsortium.org).

Dr. Cato T. Laurencin, director of the Institute for Regenerative Engineering and the chief executive officer of the Connecticut Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, has received the Martin Luther King Leadership Award from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is also the recipient of the Alvin Crawford Mentoring Award presented by the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society (JRGOS).
