Was there a defining moment during your time at UConn?

There were a lot of defining moments, I think. One of the most influential moments was when I discovered how consciousness can be integrated into art making.

Describe someone you’ve met here who has already impacted your future.

I’ve met quite a few significant people along the way. One of them is my mentor Professor Ray DiCapua. His teachings on Dharma and art have been influencing me since freshman year. Professor DiCapua’s presence will stay with me in my future practice.

As a UConn IDEA Grant recipient, what project did you pursue?

My IDEA grant provided me an opportunity to study and pursue what interests me as a young artist. I appreciate the professional aspect of the grant. Because of it, I’m able to hold my first solo art installation at the VAIS gallery in the Art Building.

Where are you headed after graduation?

I will be going into a Buddhist monastery for an undecided amount of time, because I think in order to build a beautiful house, one has to fix the foundation first. In this case, I have to go back to myself in order to move forward.

What will you miss most about UConn?

I will miss the friendly white clouds in blue sky. Taking a nap in the afternoon lying down on grass next to Mirror Lake. My studio in the Art Building. The endless nights I spent with peers in the animation lab, on my laptop with InDesign. And intellectual conversations I had with friends in the Print Shop at 1 a.m.
