Our Facebook pages have generated impressive interest in the six weeks since they went live. Contents include news and activities across the University of Connecticut campus and the School of Engineering along with RSS news feeds for Engineering, the Engineering Dean’s eNotebook, the UConn Advance, the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy. The School of Engineering Facebook link may be found athttp://www.facebook.com/uconn.engineering.

A look at our Facebook friends reveals that:

  • 27% are female
  • Many are high school students interested in engineering, and another large cohort is alumni employed in industry
  • Several hail from overseas
  • Our largest age demographic is the 18-24 range

Our Twitter account is just gaining steam but also has a fan club. Followers receive daily news updates, links to interesting articles, and links to the Twitter sites for NASA, The Energy Report, The Green Energy Brief, Science Watch, Pratt & Whitney, BioFuels, UConn alumni societies and many others.
