Dr. Sarita Arteaga, assistant clinical professor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation, Biomaterials, and Skeletal Development, has received the 2011 Women’s Leadership Award by the Hispanic Dental Association (HDA).

The award recognizes and honors women who have helped to advance the HDA mission, displayed exceptional character, and distinguished themselves as outstanding role models in the field of dentistry.

The Association seeks to improve access to dental care for Latinos and recruit more Latinos to the profession of dentistry.

Arteaga is receiving the award during the HDA’s annual meeting in San Diego this week
