UConn Health held its 46th commencement exercises Monday at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts in Storrs. (Watch the video of the ceremony).
In addition to graduating 91 physicians and 43 dentists, the UConn Health Graduate School conferred:
40 Master of Public Health degrees (including 5 M.D./MPH)
3 Master of Science, Clinical and Translational Research degrees
32 Doctor of Philosophy, Biomedical Science degrees (including 8 M.D./Ph.D.)
2 Doctor of Philosophy, Public Health degrees
14 Master of Dental Science degrees
This year’s commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient was Joan Steitz, Sterling Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University, a world-renowned research of autoimmune diseases. The student speaker was Carolyn Bradford from the UConn School of Dental Medicine Class of 2017.
UConn’s medical and dental schools have produced nearly 3,500 physicians and more than 1,600 dentists.
