UConn Students and Staff:

There is a growing problem on the Storrs campus in the locations where bicycles, mopeds, motor bikes and motor scooters are being parked. A primary concern is that a number are being left in areas that block handicapped access ways, such as ramps and paths, causing access issues for members of our community.

We ask that users of these types of vehicles please comply with the University’s policies.

Bicycles should only be parked to UConn bicycles racks located throughout campus.

Moped, motor bike and motor scooter parking is allowed only in locations posted for that purpose. Please us this MAP for reference. Permits for these types of vehicles are available at no charge from Parking Services and are required to park in University property.

Please remember that bicycles, mopeds, motor bikes and motor scooters may NEVER be parked against or secured to: hand- or stair-railings, public safety equipment, signs and sign posts, street furniture and hardscape, trees and plantings; along or in a manner that encumbers handicap accessible paths or ramps; in a manner that blocks or encumbers any emergency exit or established travel path; or within landscaping.

A violation of these polices can result in the vehicle being impounded at the owners’ risk and expense.

We asked for your increased awareness of these policies and thank you for your cooperation.
