Next week is National Poison Prevention Week, and the Connecticut Poison Control Center is pushing the campaign known as “Text. Save. Share.” — three simple steps that will turn your mobile device into a potential life-saving tool:

  1. Text POISON to 797979.
  2. Save the v-card to your phone.
  3. Share the contact for Poison Control with your friends and family.

Follow these steps and you’ll always have the number with you, in case you need it. It might just save you back. Remember, a poisoning can happen to anyone at any time to people of all ages.

The Connecticut Poison Control Center, located on the lower campus of UConn Health, receives more than 25,000 calls every year, from members of the public as well as the health care professionals who care for them.
