The Office of the Provost has announced the promotion of five UConn School of Law faculty members. Jessica de Perio Wittman has been promoted to professor and tenure; Mary Beattie to clinical professor; and Ashley Armstrong, Rachel Reeves and Rachel Timm to associate clinical professor.
They are among the 91 UConn faculty members recently granted promotions, tenure or both at the recommendation of the Office of the Provost and by vote of the University’s Board of Trustees.
“We are extremely proud of these five colleagues,” Dean Eboni S. Nelson said. “They are all remarkable faculty who help prepare students for meaningful legal careers. We are very pleased to see their many contributions to the legal academy and broader community recognized by the university.”
De Perio Wittman serves as director of the law library and teaches Special Education Law, Technology and Law Practice, and Advanced Legal Research. The Technology, Law and Legal Education section of the Association of American Law Schools recently recognized her work with its inaugural Technology & Ethics Award.
De Perio Wittman holds two BAs from the State University of New York at Buffalo and Stony Brook, as well as a Master of Library Sciences from Buffalo and a JD from Seattle University School of Law. She joined the UConn Law faculty in 2018 after six years with the law school as director of information technology and as an adjunct professor.
Beattie, who joined the faculty in 2018 after five years as an academic success counselor at the law school, teaches Applied Analytical Skills and Advanced Writing, Research and Analysis. She holds a BA from Providence College and a JD from the University of Bridgeport, now Quinnipiac School of Law.
Armstrong, who joined UConn Law in 2022, teaches courses in legal practice, including Interviewing, Counseling and Advocacy and Research and Writing. She holds a BA from Cornell University and a JD and an LLM in advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center.
Reeves joined UConn Law in 2022 as director of field placement and pro bono programs. She teaches the individual field placement seminar as well as the New York Pro Bono Scholars field placement course. She holds a BS from the University of Southern Maine and a JD from the University of Maine School of Law.
Timm, who joined UConn Law in 2019, teaches legal practice courses, including Interviewing, Counseling and Advocacy and Research and Writing. She has a BA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a JD from Creighton University School of Law.
