On Saturday April 26, the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources held its annual Graduate Research Forum.  Held each year during the spring semester, this event gives students an opportunity to present their research, sharpen their skills, and compete for prizes.

The event is organized each year by the CAHNR Office of Research and Graduate Education.

“The graduate research forum was a collective celebration of the hard work, innovation, and dedication of our graduate students. The scientific breadth and depth of research presented across disciplines were commendable,” says Kumar Venkitanarayanan, senior associate dean for research and graduate education. Congratulations to all the presenters, and sincere thanks to the faculty mentors, judges and volunteers who made the event a success.”

Dean Indrajeet Chaubey provided opening remarks and discussed the importance of sharing research with as broad an audience as possible.

“We live in a time when the ability to communicate science beyond the lab or the discipline has never been more important. Whether you’re talking to policy makers, industry leaders, community members, or your fellow CAHNR graduate students in a diverse field of study, you’re often speaking to people with very different backgrounds. We can’t assume that everyone will immediately understand the importance or impact of our work, but we can see each interaction as an opportunity to give and gain knowledge.”

This year, a keynote address was given by Arvind Balasundaram, executive director of commercial insights & analytics at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. The topic was the use of AI in research.
