Julia Kuzovkina Named Interim Department Head of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture

Kuzovkina is an internationally recognized researcher whose work on native plants, willows, and biodiversity has had impacts both close to home and on a global scale

Julia Kuzovkina, professor of horticulture, has been named the interim department head for the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture.

“Dr. Kuzovkina’s dedication to all areas of UConn’s mission areas of research, teaching, and extension engagement enable her to provide unique and creative leadership,” says Kumar Venkitrayananan, CAHNR’s interim dean. “I am thrilled she has agreed to step into this role and serve the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture.”

Kuzovkina is an internationally recognized researcher whose work on native plants, willows, and biodiversity has had impacts both close to home and on a global scale.

Joining UConn in 2005, Kuzovkina has served in several leadership roles. She has several active grants that highlight the diversity and interdisciplinary nature of her work. She also currently leads the department’s Early College Experience program, connecting educators and students around the state with UConn and the unique programs offered at CAHNR. She works closely with Extension and has experience with entrepreneurship through several programs administered by UConn’s CCEI.  She is also involved in the New England Native Plants Initiatives.

Our faculty, staff, and students are deeply committed to advancing plant science and landscape architecture through research, education, and community engagement. I look forward to fostering collaboration and innovation as we continue to grow.”
