National Engineers Week Activities Planned
This year's national Engineers Week will be celebrated February 16-22. UConn Engineering will host activities throughout the week to familiarize non-engineers with the enormous contributions engineers make to our everyday lives, from our cell phones and notebook devices to sustainable new energy technologies, personalized medicine and advanced manufacturing.

DuPont’s Mark Vergnano: From UConn to Global Leader
In January, Mark P. Vergnano (B.S. Chemical Engineering, '80), Executive Vice President of DuPont, was named to become Chief Executive Officer of DuPont's $8 billion Performance Chemicals segment, which will be spun off during the second quarter of 2015 as a stand-alone company.

Secure Systems and Supply Chain: Focus of 2nd CHASE Workshop
The Center for Hardware Assurance, Security and Engineering (CHASE) will hold its second annual workshop on April 9-10, 2014 at the Storrs campus. Security professionals are encouraged to attend at no cost, according to CHASE Director Dr. Mark Tehranipoor, the Charles H. Knapp Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering.

Scholarship Honors Dr. Owen Devereux
A new scholarship fund has been established in memory of the late, beloved Owen F. Devereux, who led the Metallurgy Department at UConn from 1983-98 and served as a distinguished faculty member for over three decades. The Owen Devereux Scholarship in Materials Science & Engineering will be awarded to two exceptional undergraduate students each year.

UConn Engineering Projects Receive CTNext Funding
Two demonstration initiatives proposed by the School of Engineering, aimed at nurturing entrepreneurial businesses and invigorating the manufacturing sector throughout the state, will receive grant funding from Connecticut Innovations (CI). Overseeing the initiatives are Professor of Practice Dr. Hadi Bozorgmanesh and Senior Associate Dean Dr. Michael Accorsi, who is partnering with Vice President for Economic Development Dr. Mary Holz-Clause.
