Terry Gerratana, state senate majority whip and chair of the legislature’s public health committee, was the keynote speaker.

Lane, who grew up in Connecticut's foster care system, participated in the briefing as an intern from U.S.Sen.Richard Blumenthal's office. The briefing was sponsored by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI). Lane spent several months this summer working in Sen. Blumenthal's office and advising the senator and his staff on issues related to foster care and other matters as part of his internship.
