A retrospective of the long and literate wall calendar created by the award-winning graphic design team of Cummings & Good is among the exhibits that will be on display at the University of Connecticut Libraries from Jan. 19 through March 5.

The exhibit of Cummings & Good calendars from 2001 to 2010 traces the creative process from concept sketches to the final printed pages. Also featured are samples of original art, photographs, constructions, news articles, correspondence, and promotional items.

Based in Chester, Conn., principals Janet Cummings Good and Peter Good earned their bachelor of fine arts degrees at UConn; later in their careers they developed the University’s identity program.

Wildlife artist Susan Peifer, who is also exhibiting her work, captures in watercolor the inhabitants of the woods, fields, and gardens surrounding her Chaplin home.

Susan Forbes Hansen’s elegant, stark, black and white winter photographs will also be on display. Perhaps best known for broadcasting folk music programs on WHUS, WFCR, and WNPR, the West Hartford resident’s work also graces the covers of several CDs.

An opening reception, free and open to the public, will take place Jan. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Stevens Gallery of the Homer Babbidge Library and the Dodd Research Center. Musical entertainment will be provided by the jazz quintet Slow Latin Groove Project.
