Dr. Bruce Browner, Health Center orthopaedic surgeon, and Dr. Kimberly Ruscher, UConn general surgery resident, are featured in a national campaign for the American College of Surgeons Inspiring Quality initiative. The two surgeons offer video testimonials describing what inspires them to provide the highest quality surgical care.

Browner discusses the dramatic transformations he often witnesses from when patients first arrive at the trauma center to their return for a follow-up visit.

Particularly fitting for October Breast Cancer Awareness, Ruscher describes her experience caring for breast cancer patients, and how she is inspired by them to have hope in the face of a devastating diagnosis.

The ACS Inspiring Quality initiative is a national effort to encourage collaboration among health care leaders across the country to share best practices on quality programs. Improving quality leads to fewer complications, and that translates into better outcomes and greater access for patients, as well as lower costs.
