Field Hockey to Host NCAA First Round

The No. 5 Huskies field hockey team will host Princeton on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a first round match in the NCAA Field Hockey Championships at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. Penn State will face Northeastern at 11 a.m. in the other first round game on Saturday in Storrs with the winners facing off on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Update Nov. 14: Playing in Storrs over the weekend, the field hockey team beat Princeton 3-2 and Penn State 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the 2011 NCAA Field Hockey Championship, to advance to its 10th Final Four in history and the third time in the past six years. The No. 5 Huskies (19-2) will square-off against No. 1 North Carolina (22-1) in Friday’s semifinal in Louisville at 2 p.m. In the other semifinal, No. 4 Maryland (17-4) will face No. 2 Old Dominion (22-2). The winners will play the championship game on Sunday at noon.
