Art Exhibit Highlights Mixed Media by Established Artists at UConn Health Center

The works from Hannah Libman and Hennie Stargardter are on display in the hospital lobby until Oct.17.

Award-winning collage artist Hannah Libman creates vibrant landscapes, abstracts and whimsical portraits using a variety of marbleized, painted and printed papers. A West Hartford resident, she studied at the Hartford Art School/University of Hartford. Her invitational shows include such venues as the Promenade Gallery at the Bushnell Memorial and the Pump House Gallery in Hartford; Western New England College, Springfield, Mass.; and the Chase-Freedman Gallery at the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center, among others. She has exhibited widely in one-woman and group shows in galleries and at the New Britain Museum of American Art and the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, to name a few. She is a faculty member of the West Hartford Art League, a past-president of the Bloomfield’s Wintonbury Art League, a council member of the Academy of Fine Arts, and a member of other recognized art groups.

Hennie Stargardter uses oil sticks and monoprinting to create her abstract paintings that allow her to show movement and expression within her artwork. She has exhibited widely including at the New Britain Museum of Art; Mattatuck Museum; Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts annual show; Canton, Mystic and Essex galleries; Clinton Art Society; West Hartford Art League, and other venues. For more than two decades, Stargardter, who holds a master’s degree in art education from the University of Hartford, taught art in the Hartford and Granby school systems, and served as a docent at the Wadsworth Atheneum. She is past president of Bloomfield’s Wintonbury Art League and is involved with numerous arts organizations.

The University of Connecticut Health Center’s collection of fine arts serves to enhance the environment and promote the sense of a caring community for patients, visitors, staff and students.
