The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team is helping raise money for cancer research by taking part in the seventh annual Play 4Kay initiative.
Play 4Kay is a national fundraising effort, in partnership with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation for Cancer Research, in memory of former North Carolina State University head coach Kay Yow, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and battled the disease until 2009.
During the Huskies’ game against top-ranked Baylor on Monday in Hartford, fans attending the matchup received a free pink t-shirt, courtesy of AAA. Student-athletes also collected donations at the game.
A donation can be made online at www.play4kay.org/uconnhuskies, by clicking on the “Give Now!” button.
