New Ideas in Insurance: A Virtual ILC Speaker Series

The Insurance Law Center at the UConn School of Law will offer New Ideas in Insurance, a series of online seminars by leading experts on cutting-edge topics, starting Jan. 21, 2020. The weekly seminars will be free and open to the public.

“We invited leading experts from the academy, the bar, and the world of insurance regulation to speak about developments in their fields and speculate about what the future will look like,” said Professor Peter Siegelman, acting director of the Insurance Law Center. “These fascinating and important conversations will show us the many ways that insurance shapes, often decisively, many aspects of life and society.”

The seminars will address a wide range of topics, from limiting police misconduct to regulating self-driving cars to influencing how health care is delivered and priced. The sessions will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on most Thursdays during the spring semester. A full schedule is available on the Insurance Law Center website at ilc.law.uconn.edu/new-ideas.

The seminars are free but advance registration is required at s.uconn.edu/new-ideas-rsvp UConn Law students have the option of enrolling in the series as a course for academic credit.

The Insurance Law Center, founded in 1998 with a generous endowment from the insurance community, is recognized around the world for the study of law, insurance, and risk. The center’s Insurance LLM program has attracted lawyers, professors, and insurance regulators from the U.S. and overseas for graduate studies for more than a decade.
