UConn John Dempsey Hospital has been named to the inaugural list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2024 by Newsweek and Statista.
UConn’s award-winning teaching hospital is the only hospital in the Greater Hartford area to make Newsweek’s new best-in-state hospital ranking. It is just one of five Connecticut hospitals to be named best-in-state in 2024.
In both 2023 and 2022 UConn John Dempsey Hospital was recognized as a World’s Best Hospital in the United States by Newsweek and Statista.
“We are so grateful for the excellence and dedication of our entire team of hospital providers, nurses, and staff in caring for our state’s citizens, always providing them with the very best safety and patient care experience possible,” says Caryl Ryan, RN, Chief Operating Officer for UConn John Dempsey Hospital and UConn Health’s Chief Nursing Officer.
This year’s America’s Best-In-State Hospitals list recognizes 600 leading hospitals across the nation. According to Newsweek, America’s Best-In-State Hospitals ranking was created to identify the top hospitals at the state level. Hospitals from across the U.S. states were eligible for the ranking and four data sources were analyzed by Newsweek and Statista, a global market research and consumer data firm.
The data analysis included a large nationwide online survey, hospital quality metrics from Medicare and Medicare Services, patient experience data, and Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) from their hospital stays.
“We hope this list is helpful to you when you select the right hospital for yourself or your family,” shared Newsweek Global Editor in Chief Nancy Cooper.
