“Medicine is not as diverse as it should be. It was incredibly helpful to me to have mentors,” says Dr. Chioma Ogbejesi, a future OB/GYN surgeon in her third-year of residency training at UConn School of Medicine. She was the first medical student in the new, growing Visiting Externships for Students Underrepresented in Medicine (VESUM) program to match to a UConn residency.

Mark Manson is graduating from Bloomfield High School and is UConn bound. After completing the Doctors Academy program at UConn Health, he will attend UConn for the next 8 years in its specialized program in medicine to dually earn both his B.S, and M.D degrees.
