Alpay Named UConn Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor

The UConn School of Engineering is proud to announce that S. Pamir Alpay, Associate Dean for Research and Industrial Partnerships, has been named a Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor, after a vote by the trustees last week. The award recognizes faculty who have achieved exceptional distinction in scholarship, teaching, and service while at the University of Connecticut and has been awarded annually since 1998.

Through this program, the OVPR is able to provide up to $2,000 to UConn faculty across all disciplines, on a competitive basis, to promote, support, and enhance research, scholarship and creative endeavors.

UConn's OVPR recently announced the 2020 Convergence Awards for Research in Interdisciplinary Centers (CARIC), an initiative that provides up to $150,000 to interdisciplinary teams to bid for major federally funded initiatives.

Senior Design Journey 2020: Mapping the Opioid Crisis, Part 2

With Senior Design Demonstration Day cancelled, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, and with every student sent home, Senior Design groups faced obstacles in completing their project. But with obstacles comes opportunity and challenge, especially for engineering students. One of those Senior Design groups, consisting of computer science students Mark Adanti, Solomon Poulose, Frances Yu, and Samson Weiner, is working on mapping the opioid crisis for Cigna.
